HISTORY
Over 50 Years Of Family History
In 1959 my Uncle Ed Yore worked for Lindon's Furniture located on 63rd Street and Maplewood Avenue in Chicago. It wasn't long before Uncle Ed opened his own store at that same location. Always one to consider family first, Ed hired his 16 year old nephew, Bill Grice, to work after school and summers. After Bill graduated high school, he began working full time on the docks unloading trucks and delivering furniture. Ed Yore then made Bill a salesman in the furniture department. Bill quickly became sales manager and in 1973 opened his own store located on 63rd Street and Homan Avenue on Chicago's Southside. Before long, Bill opened a larger store on 66th Streeet and Pulaski Road. Following the same example of his Uncle Ed, Bill hired his brother Ed Grice to work after school in his warehouse and eventually delivering furniture. After five years Ed also moved onto the sales floor and started selling furniture. In 1989 Ed Grice opened his own store on 111th Street in Chicago Ridge.
Our Mission
Our mission and philosophy is not to be a big store with a lot of overhead. We believe a smaller store with a low overhead which sells higher quality furniture at low prices will encourage people from all distances to shop with us. We have delivered furniture to our customers in Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, Florida and Michighan. We have also shipped furniture as far away as Amman, Jordan.
We are on a first name basis with a lot of our customers. Most of our business is through word of mouth. We have repeat customers who've purchased from my uncle 50 years ago. In these days with all the imports coming from China we still manage to purchase most of our furniture from U.S. manufacturers in North Carolina and Mississippi. American made furntiure is superior to Chinese made furniture, especially when you are purchasing upholstery. Most of the big box stores sell Chinese made upholstery because it's less expensive, but Chinese made goods will not last as long or have the same comfort level as American made furniture.

American made furniture is much less expensive in the long run. Most people keep their furniture longer than their cars and some longer than their homes. So why not buy better quality?

Recently debuted at the High Point Furniture Market, Better Homes and Gardens in conjunction with Universal Furniture unveiled their new line of wood and upholstery. Not to leave anyone out, Better Homes and Gardens designed the line to cater to almost every buyer. For those with a more modern flare there's Modern Outlook a sophisticated walnut finish, sleek styling and smooth lines. GRICE WAREHOUSE
Located at 4455 Southwest Highway in Oak Lawn, Grice Furniture Warehouse opened in the summer of 2000. In the front of our warehouse is Lane Furniture Showcase featuring reclining furniture by Lane. Grice Furniture Outlet is located behind the showcase in our warhouse. Grice Outlet is open to the public and highlights one of a kind items, discontinued items and lightly damaged pieces at reduced prices. Most of the items in our outlet are as shown and cannot be reordered so hurry in to take advantage of all the last chance deals!
All pick ups are also made at this location. If picking up furniture bought at our showroom on 111th Street please pay all C.O.D.'s at our Chicago Ridge location before arriving for pick ups. Pick up hours are as follows:
Monday-Friday 8am-3:30pm
Saturday 10am-4pm

FAQ
Do you deliver?
Yes, we deliver all over the Chicagoland area as well as out of state.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery charges primarily depend on how much furniture is being delivered and where it's being delivered to. A salesperson can quote you a price for delivery.
Do you have financing?
Yes, we finance through Wells Fargo. A financing form will need to be filled out in store for credit approval.
Can I change the fabric and wood colors?
Most of our upholstery lines can be special ordered in different fabrics. Some of our wood products can also be ordered in different colors depending on the manufacturer.
How long does a special order take to arrive?
Most of our lines take 4-6 weeks for delivery of a special order. The range can vary anywhere from 2 weeks to 10 weeks, but depends on the manufacturer. If items are in stock we can deliver immediately.
How do I clean my furniture?
All fabrics and leathers are cleaned differently. Please contact your salesperson for the cleaning code on your specific fabric. All wood products and marble can be cleaned with a lightly damp cloth. Brass parts also can be cleaned with a clean cloth. Never use windex on any brass parts.
